How to Use CheatDetector
XCSTRIKE CheatDetector is a free, standalone PC scanner built specifically for Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS2 server admins. Unlike traditional server-side anti-cheats, players download and run this lightweight Windows executable while their game is open. Within seconds, it scans for active memory modifications, known cheat signatures, and suspicious hardware IDs.
Once the scan completes, it instantly generates a permanent, public report on XCSTRIKE marked as Clean, Suspicious, or Cheat. Server owners can request a scan link, wait for the player to run the tool, and verify the results on this page without digging through logs. Currently in BETA, CheatDetector is fast, respects player privacy by not touching personal files, and helps keep your community free from hackers.
For Server Admins
Step 1. Send the scanner to the player
When you want a scan, ask the player to download CheatDetector from this site. Send them the link: xcstrike.com/cheatdetector. They unzip the archive and double-click CheatDetector.exe only. No installation.
Step 2. Player runs the scan
The player must have CS 1.6 or CS2 running (ideally connected to a server) when they launch CheatDetector. They click START SCAN and wait about 15 seconds. Windows will show a permission prompt. They should click Yes.
Step 3. Review the report
After the scan completes, the player gets a VIEW REPORT link. They send you this link. You can also find scans on the Scan Reports page. Search by player name, SteamID or server IP.
Step 4. Reading the report
The report shows a verdict: CLEAN, SUSPICIOUS or CHEAT. Pay attention to these points:
Detected. Direct evidence of cheats on the PC.
Warning. Suspicious activity that may or may not be a cheat.
Session time. If it says "Session: 30s" the player just restarted the game before scanning. Ask them to scan again while playing, not from a fresh launch.
Steam / No Steam. Whether the player has active Steam sync. Not cheating-related, but useful info.
Tip. Short session times
Cheaters may try to close the game, reopen it clean, and then scan. Check the Session time next to Scan Time. If CS 1.6 or CS2 was launched seconds before the scan, ask for another scan while they are playing. A normal scan should show a session of several minutes or more.
For Players
Step 1. Download CheatDetector
Download the zip from the CheatDetector page or the Download button in the sidebar. Extract both files into the same folder: CheatDetector.exe and CheatDetector64.exe. Do not delete the 64 file. CS2 scans need it. You never start the 64 file yourself.
Step 2. Open the game first
Launch CS 1.6 or CS2 and connect to the server where you are being asked to scan. Do not close the game. The scanner needs the game running. If you scan from the main menu, the report will show "Not connected" and no server info.
Step 3. Run CheatDetector
Double-click CheatDetector.exe (not the 64 file). Windows will ask for Administrator permission. Click Yes. This is needed so the scanner can check the running game. A dark window with a START SCAN button appears.
Step 4. Click START SCAN
Click the button and wait. The scan takes about 10 to 20 seconds. You will see a progress bar. Do not close the game or the scanner during this process.
Step 5. Share the report
When the scan finishes, you will see the result (CLEAN / SUSPICIOUS / CHEAT) and a VIEW REPORT button. Click it to open the report in your browser, or COPY LINK to send it to the server admin. The report URL looks like: xcstrike.com/cheatdetector/report/123
Important Notes
Antivirus warnings
Some antivirus software may flag CheatDetector. That is a false positive. You may need to allow CheatDetector.exe and CheatDetector64.exe. Keep both files from the zip. Do not delete the 64 file.
Administrator required
The scanner must run as Administrator. Without that, the scan may be incomplete. Always click Yes on the Windows prompt.
The game must be running
CheatDetector needs CS 1.6 or CS2 open. If no game is found, it shows "TARGET NOT FOUND". CS 1.6: Steam, NextClient (engine 8684), GSClient, GoldClient, and most modified clients. CS2: the official Steam client. Coverage is still BETA, so some builds may need extra testing.
Privacy
The scanner does not access personal files, browser history, passwords, or any data outside the game context. Only the scan report is sent to our server. Your player IP is partially masked in the public report.
