CheatDetector FAQ
What games does it support?
CheatDetector is built for CS 1.6 and CS2. The project is in BETA. Detection and client coverage are still being expanded. CS:GO and CS:S are not the current focus.
Is CheatDetector a virus?
No. CheatDetector is a normal scanner zip. Some antivirus tools flag it because it inspects a running game. That is a false positive. Reports on this site are signed so they cannot be edited.
Does it collect my personal data?
No. The scanner does not access personal files, documents, browser history, passwords or anything outside the game. The only data sent to our server is the scan report.
What data is included in the report?
The report contains your player name, Steam ID, server IP, a hardware fingerprint used to link scans to the same PC, Windows version, and the list of findings. No personal files. IP addresses are partially masked in the public report.
Can a server admin see my real IP?
Your IP is partially masked (for example 192.168.*.*) in the public report. Only the first two octets are visible, plus your country flag. Full IPs are not shown to the public.
Can someone use this tool to hack my PC?
No. The scanner only reads information. It does not change your system or your game. It only connects to XCSTRIKE to upload the report.
Can a player fake or edit the scan results?
No. Each report is signed on this site. If someone changes the scanner or the result, the report is flagged. Results are uploaded directly. The player cannot edit them.
I got flagged but I don't cheat. What do I do?
False positives are rare but possible. Check the report details. Each finding explains what was detected. Common cases include overlay software, debugging tools or other games with similar files. Send the server admin your report link for review.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free for both players and server admins. No premium tiers, no hidden fees, no limits on scans.
Does it work on all CS 1.6 / CS2 clients?
CS 1.6: vanilla Steam, NextClient (engine 8684), GSClient, csldr, and other common builds. CS2: the official Steam client. Because the scanner is in BETA, some modified clients may still need extra testing. If a scan fails, send the admin the report anyway.
Does the game need to be running?
Yes. Launch CS 1.6 or CS2 (ideally connected to a server) before you start the scan. If the game isn’t running, CheatDetector reports "TARGET NOT FOUND".
What Windows versions are supported?
Windows 7 SP1 through Windows 11. Both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported.
